Hallmark Movies Filmed in Vancouver

Vancouver is a Hallmark hotspot with nearly 60 of the brand’s cozy romance, family and comedy movies produced in the region annually. Throughout the year – and particularly around the holiday season – Hallmark’s emotive stories are devoured by those seeking an enthralling mystery, lighthearted chuckle or romantic tearjerker.

While Vancouver serves as a picture-perfect backdrop for several Hallmark shows, productions are also filmed in nearby Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Langley, Squamish, Surrey and Abbotsford. Hit productions like Mingle All the Way (see Director Allan Harmon’s favourite Vancouver experiences here) are attracting attention not just for heart-melting storylines but also striking local backdrops – see Country Living’s article urging readers to jump into the shows’ storylines by travelling to Vancouver for themselves.

Key shots were completed in Maple Ridge – a 50-minute drive from Vancouver – where annual holiday traditions include a festive parade, as well as craft-making, cookies and hot chocolate, and Santa’s mailbox on offer in Memorial Peace Park.

Christmas Joy

Joy – played by The Flash star Danielle Panabaker (fans can follow in the footsteps of The Flash and other superheroes using this self-guided itinerary) – is a corporate market researcher gunning for a promotion. However, when she is forced to return to her hometown, she is soon immersed in cookie competitions and feel-good feelings for her former crush Ben. Downtown Vancouver filming locations include Sinclair Centre, close to the scenic waterfront (and the start of the Vancouver seawall) and the Vancouver Lookout. Each year, the entire city lights up with holiday cheer thanks to must-see spectacles like Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge; and the Vancouver Christmas Market.

Once Upon a Holiday

When Princess Katherine of Montserai grows tired of her royal duties, she escapes while in New York and meets handsome Jack, who shows her his home city as the two fall deeper in lust. Although part of the movie was filmed in Romania, key scenes were shot in New Westminster, whose holiday claim to fame is the world’s tallest tin soldier.
