With the ambitious goal of becoming a zero waste community by 2040, the City of Vancouver is currently creating a zero waste strategy to guide us there. We encourage all members to participate in the City’s brief questionnaire, which gives you the opportunity to speak your mind about your perceptions and habits related to waste and share your ideas on how we can become a zero waste community.

As both a philosophy and goal, zero waste aims to reduce and ultimately eliminate garbage from landfills and incinerators.
The City of Vancouver’s community consultation requests feedback in three areas:
- Food, i.e. food and its packaging
- Products, i.e. plastic, paper, electronics and personal hygiene product waste
- Buildings, i.e. construction, renovation and demolition waste
