According to a recent report by FilmLA, Canada has topped the list of global movie production locations for the first time.

Now in its fifth year, the 2017 Feature Film Study examines the U.S.’s 100 highest-performing feature films released in 2017 and identifies how they were made, how much was spent on production, and how many films were shot in production centres worldwide. In 2017, 20 of the top 100 films were shot in Canada, with 11 of these filmed in Vancouver. Georgia, which topped the list in previous years, came in as the number-two production centre (15 films) along with the UK (15), followed by California (10) and New York (6).

The report focused exclusively on movies, though Vancouver is a strong contender in the small-screen arena with hits like Riverdale, Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, The X-Files, The Man in the High Castle and others filmed in and around the city.
