Tourism Vancouver, in collaboration with Destination BC, Tourism Richmond, Tourism Victoria, Vancouver International Airport and Air Canada, promoted Chinese New Year experiences as the first marketing initiative during the 2018 Canada-China Year of Tourism.

A collaborative marketing campaign was launched in October 2017 with 16 key tour operators in China. These operators developed 29 Chinese New Year itineraries in and around Vancouver, which included the Chinese New Year Parade, Flyover Canada (with China extension) and a gala dinner.  In addition, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park offered early entry exclusively for nearly 300 Chinese visitors on the morning of February 17 and February 18.  Red lanterns were hung up at the park and hand-held China flags were distributed to visitors upon arrival.

To mark this special year of tourism, Tourism Vancouver will continue working with partners and members to promote our unique destination in the China market. Upcoming tactics include a China sales mission, integrated marketing campaigns, media hosting and trade familiarization tours.
