Tourism Vancouver takes home Digital Excellence Award

Tourism Vancouver is very pleased to receive the New York Society of Association Executives (NYSAE) annual “Digital Excellence Award” for our website. The award ceremony was held at the annual Synergy Awards luncheon, which took place on Wednesday, April 17 in New York.  Six awards were presented including Outstanding Association Executive, Distinguished Service, Volunteer of the Year, Young Leader, Digital Excellence, Association, and Digital Excellence, CVB (Tourism Vancouver).

Tourism Vancouver debuted an enhanced, mobile-friendly and visually appealing website in 2018.  Now, it is easier than ever for visitors, meeting professionals and tour operators to plan a trip to, or within, the city.  The website, revamped in 2018, features bold, freshly captured visuals to pique interest and inspire travel to the destination; constantly updated content pulled from Tourism Vancouver's social media feeds; new tools for meeting planners; and a diverse collection of planning tools ranging from itinerary builders to interactive maps. Our priority is to drive a ‘digital & technology first’ agenda for our marketing activities.

Wendy Surkan, Manager, Meeting & Convention Sales, Eastern US accepted the award on behalf of Tourism Vancouver saying: “When landing on the Tourism Vancouver website, the user immediately feels a sense of the city between sky and ocean, the endless possibilities for experiencing a modern, diverse city with a stunning natural setting.  Curating user-generated content from platforms like Instagram, doubling down on video, neighbourhood storytelling, nuanced consumer segmentation—such as culinary experiences or upcoming events and festivals—has allowed Vancouver to inspire visitors to stay longer pre- and post-conventions they attend in our city.”

CSTA Sport Tourism Organization Award

Sport Hosting Vancouver was named the Sport Tourism Organization of the Year for the second time. Sport Hosting Vancouver played a key role in securing large events like the 2018 Canadian Tire National Skating Championship, the 2019 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, 2018 Vancouver NCAA Basketball Showcase and 2019 IIHF World Junior Championships, with announcement that Vancouver will continue to host the HSBC Rubgy Sevens Series for at least four more years.
