With experience working with hundreds of conferences, meetings and events each year, Tourism Vancouver’s Convention Services team is uniquely qualified to help you with any questions you have about bringing your meeting to our city. Below are a few helpful tips, but we are happy to help with any queries you may have on planning your program in Vancouver.
Canadian Border Services Agency & Citizenship and Immigration Canada
For convention delegates entering Canada from other countries, meeting planners can work with the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) and Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). Registering a conference with these two key organizations offers recognition of the meeting to assist with ease of entry into Canada for attendees. For more information please contact the Convention Services team.
Foreign Convention Goods & Services Tax (GST) Rebate Program
Conventions may be eligible for the Foreign Convention GST Rebate on convention facilities and related convention supplies provided they have 75% or more attendees that are non-residents of Canada, and an organization headquarter office situated outside of Canada. For more information please contact the Convention Services team.
Mobile Phones in Canada
Before delegates depart for Canada, it’s highly recommended that they contact their local cell phone carrier to get information about special pricing plans for calls, text messaging and cellular data usage outside of their home country.
