Dr. Gail Murphy is a professor in the Department of Computer Science at University of British Columbia (UBC), as well as a co-founder and Chief Scientist at Tasktop Technologies Incorporated. This year, as the General Chair, Dr. Murphy is welcoming colleagues from all over the world to join ACM Conference on Systems, Programming, Languages and Applications: Software for Humanity (SPLASH) in Vancouver.

SPLASH will take place from October 22nd to 27th at Hyatt Regency Vancouver and will entail numerous workshops and invited keynote speakers, discussing the different aspects of software construction, programming and software engineering.

Recently, UBC has formally announced that Dr. Gail Murphy will be stepping into a new role as the Vice-President, Research and Innovation for UBC. During her time as an Associate Vice-President, Professor Murphy has accomplished a series of initiatives for the university such leading growing interactions with Microsoft and the founding the Cascadia Urban Analytics Consortium.

We would like to congratulate Dr. Murphy on starting her new position at UBC and thank her for her contributions in bringing SPLASH to Vancouver.
