Dr. Caroline Cameron is a Microbiologist whose expertise lies within the field of sexually-transmitted infections. While holding her title as the Canada Research Chair in Molecular Pathogenesis, she is also an Associate Professor at University of Victoria and the President-Elect of the International Society for Sexually Transmitted Diseases Research.
We were successful in working together with Dr. Cameron to win one of the most important international meetings in her industry: International Union of Sexually Transmitted Infections. Dr. Cameron has gathered many of her local colleagues, who she will be working together with over the course of the next few years, in order to produce a world-leading conference.
Recently, Dr. Cameron has announced that she and her colleague, Dr. Sheila Lukehart, are close to developing a vaccine for syphilis, a disease that has reached its highest rates in B.C. in the last 30 years. They have been awarded with a grant that will cover a period of four years for their research, which will allow them for additional experiment to discover the effectiveness, optimal dose and longevity of this vaccine.
We want to show Dr. Cameron our support, not only for her success in her career, but also for her research on syphilis vaccine and the preparation of being the local host, and co-chair, for the upcoming 2019 International Union of Sexually Transmitted Infections.
Be a Host program supports and encourages all local hosts to bring international meetings and conventions to our beautiful city, Vancouver. Please visit tourismvancouver.com/host to see who else has hosted, and learn how we can help.
