An Olympic distance triathlon will be hosted by Vancouver this summer when the 2016 Ironman 5150 Series comes to Vancouver for the first time.
The 5150 Series is a triathlon which includes a 1.5 kilometre swim, 40-kilometre bicycle ride, and a 10-kilometre run. Taking place on July 10, 2016, Vancouver terrain offers an ideal setting for this race. With the city's proximity to water and scenic seawall, race participants will experience Vancouver in the way many locals do -- biking, swimming, and running their way through the city.
Being held in the peak of Vancouver's tourism season, Ironman Canada expects 2,500 competitors and 10,000 spectators.
Spring/Summer 2016 will be a busy one for athletic events in Vancouver. The 2016 Ironman joins the World Rugby Seven's tournament, Lululemon SeaWheeze half marathon, and the American Masters Games, as another exceptional sporting event hosted in Vancouver.
