Vancouver’s temperate climate and never-ending scenic views make it one of the best running cities in the world. And now, running enthusiasts travelling to Vancouver can sign up for a City Running Tour. Jog along with an experienced guide as you visit and learn about Vancouver landmarks, history, neighbourhoods and post-modern architecture, combining sightseeing with a workout. All running tours are guided at a relaxed and comfortable pace with many stops for interpretation along the way. Interestingly, the lead guide, Charles Greenberg, is a Professor of Urban Studies and he holds a PhD in Urban Geography from UBC.
Vancouver City Running Tours offers three tours:
The Truth About False Creek: So much of Vancouver's history revolved around False Creek. Originally it was a fertile native fishing and hunting area. And later with European arrivals it became the site of all kinds of industry - from sawmills to shipbuilding. This running tour examines the history of Vancouver through the lens of False Creek. Your guide will also discuss modern False Creek and its multiple uses today. You will run through the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Athlete's Village site and visit iconic Granville island. From Granville Island you take a boat across False Creek to finish the tour.
