Vancouver's shopping scene is about to get a whole lot more exciting with the opening of two major chains. First up: European designer outlet giant McArthurGlen will open 376,000 square feet of luxury, designer and lifestyle retail space in Richmond (near Vancouver International Airport) on July 9. The mall will feature two luxury piazzas complete with pedestrian-friendly walkways and tree-lined streets. Forty-six retailers have been announced, including Nike, Armani, Coach, J.Crew and Hugo Boss. Travellers flying in or out of Vancouver International Airport can transfer to McArthurGlen for free on the Canada Line SkyTrain, making it an ideal shopping stop while on layover or after checking in.
Then, in September 2015, U.S. department store giant Nordstrom will launch a 230,000-square-foot flagship location in downtown Vancouver.
In other shopping news, Holt Renfrew Vancouver has announced the addition of a restaurant to their downtown Vancouver luxury shopping hub, and luxury chain Moncler will open a store in the city. Shoppers who prefer pounding the pavement will want to strut up to Alberni Street, which is becoming known as Vancouver's Rodeo Drive because of the concentration of luxury stores like Tiffany, Tory Burch and DeBeers.
