FRIDAY, February 21 | 8PM - LYDIA HOL & DAWN PEMBERTON
Vocalist/guitarist Lydia Hol deftly combines early '60s soul, lush psychedelic rock, and a taste of country. WCMA-winner Dawn Pemberton's voice beats a soulful path from gospel and R&B to jazz, funk, and world music.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 22 | 1PM - DAVID SIKULA QUARTET
Vancouver-based guitarist David Sikula leads this quartet through a series of his original compositions as well as tunes by some of his favourite composers. This quartet makes music with a cohesive, dynamic, and nimble approach.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 22 | 3:45PM - THE WATERMILL PROJECT
Traditional Korean music and modern jazz are interwoven in Vancouver vocalist Sara Kim's "at once virtuosic and eminently comprehensible" (Discorder) Watermill Project.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 22 | 8PM - SICK BOSS & JAIMIE BRANCH FLY OR DIE II
Drawing from creative improvisation, folk, and Jimi Hendrix, SICK BOSS' sweeping, cerebral originals are taken to unexpected places by Vancouver sonic all-stars. FLY or DIE II: bird dogs of paradise is the much-anticipated follow-up to composer, trumpeter, and (now) singer Jaimie Branch's debut Fly or Die, which was dubbed one of the "Best Albums of 2017" by The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, NPR Music, WIRE, Stereogum, Aquarium Drunkard, and more.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 23 | 1PM - BONNIE NORTHGRAVES QUARTET
Vancouver-based smoky-smooth trumpeter/vocalist/pianist Bonnie Northgraves' style calls to the early jazz styles of New Orleans. Performing music from the '20s, '30s, and '40s as well as her own original music, she has been delighting audiences across the world.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 23 | 3:45PM - ITAMAR EREZ QUARTET
Itamar Erez's music expands the musical cultures and geographical borders of the Middle East with passionate flamenco and Latin music themes, the lyricism of Brazil and, obviously, the freedom of jazz.
