We are going global again! We’ve reached out to our friends in the global culinary community and have invited them to Vancouver. The result? Five of the world’s culinary best join us for a series of delicious collaborations with our own city’s top talent.
Maenam Chef and Owner Angus An welcomes esteemed Chef David Thompson and Chef Prin Polsuk as they visit Vancouver and Canada for the first time. Chef David's Bangkok restaurant, Nahm, is No.5 on the San Pellegrino list of Top Asian Restaurants in the world. Together, Chef's David, Angus and Prin will create a traditional Thai feast in the luxurious style that has gained them worldwide acclaim. This sumptuous dinner will be served family-style, starting with small snacks followed by a multi-course dinner. Wine pairings will be included.
* All Inclusive - includes multi-course dinner, beverage pairings, tax, gratuity and ticketing fees.
No minors, vegetarian options available, please arrive 15 minutes early. If you would like Chef David Thompson to sign your cookbook, please bring your book with you to the dinner and wait until the end of the evening.
This is a seafood-forward dinner and seafood/shellfish allergies cannot be accommodated.
About Chef David Thompson
Chef Thompson’s Nahm Bangkok has racked up an impressive list of the world’s top culinary awards including a number one spot on San Pellegrino’s World’s Best Restaurants in Asia, as well as a perennial position on its list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. The original iteration of Nahm, in London, was also the first Thai restaurant in the world to be recognized with a Michelin star.
About Chef Angus An
Chef An met Chef Thompson in 2004, when the former first travelled to London to gain cooking experience. Chef An obtained a position in the kitchen at Nahm, where he was mentored by Chef Thompson, an experience that eventually shaped his career. Originally trained in classical European cooking, Chef An found himself enticed by a new world of rich flavours and techniques that reminded him of his own family’s Taiwanese cooking heritage. His style began to evolve, embracing his new passion for the cuisine of Thailand. When Chef An returned to Vancouver in 2006, he opened Gastropod, a modern European restaurant, where he employed many of Chef Thompson’s teachings and enjoyed critical success. Gastropod eventually closed its doors and was reinvented as Maenam, a modern Thai establishment, now widely known as one of Vancouver’s top restaurants. In many ways, Chef An attributes the success of his career and restaurant to Chef Thompson. Chef An is thrilled and honoured to host him in Maenam’s kitchen for this unforgettable evening.
