Solar Eclipse 2017 at Science World

Monday, August 21, 2017 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Science World at TELUS World of Science, Vancouver

The most exciting and anticipated astronomical event of the year, the solar eclipse on August 21st is going to be spectacular. This eclipse marks the first time in 99 years that a total solar eclipse crossed the entire continental USA and here in Vancouver, we will be able to observe a whopping 86% totality!

The 2017 solar eclipse is not only an amazing sight, it's also rare to have such a good view of an astronomical event. Science organizations around the city are offering special programming to help you observe the eclipse.

If you are in the area, or are planning to visit Science World on the eclipse day, we have a full day of programming planned. If you are nearby to UBC, you can check out the Department of Physics and Astronomy's public programming. If H.R. Macmillian Space Centre is your nearby science spot, you can drop into their community viewing party.

Here at Science World, we are very excited! To make the most of this spectacular event, we have partnered with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) and together, we plan to offer free outdoor programming in addition to special programming in our Science Theatre.

Please note: Eclipse Viewers are currently sold out at our Kaleidoscope Science Store.
