This year's festival theme is 'Tales of War and Peace'. We see artists as important voices in the larger community, allowing us to step into the worlds they create, while also addressing the pressing questions of the one we inhabit. This year's line-up includes an outstanding array of award-winning artists who have the courage to say what they think, to hold up a mirror to ugly truths, but also to transcend, offer hope and celebrate creation when the world looks dispiriting.

Hear two Grammy Award musicians (violin god L. Subramaniam and saxophone legend Ernie Watts) call for unity through music as they bring the worlds of Indian classical and jazz together.

Listen to literary bluesman Arthur Flowers sing the tale of Dr. Martin Luther King. Meet Bhajju Shyam, one of India's most brilliant indigenous artists as he responds to the Northwest Coast. Hear Joe Sacco, one of the world's foremost graphic novelists on his work as a frontline journalist. Our roster of outstanding thinkers include two-time Giller prize winner MG Vassanji, Granta award-winning novelist Kamila Shamsie, CanLit stars Pasha Malla and Anosh Irani, Indian journalist Raghu Karnad, linguist Dr. Anvita Abbi and local legend Carmen Rodriguez.
