Join the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre in the Planetarium Star Theatre for a reprise of last year’s screening of pioneering French filmmaker Georges Méliès’ classic work.
Owen Connell will be returning with a repeat performance of his magnificent electronic score to the magical “A Trip to the Moon” (1902), and will debut two new scores to Méliès’ “The Impossible Voyage” (1904), and Thomas Edison’s film “A Trip to Mars” (1910).
Méliès’ films are considered to be some of the earliest science fiction films ever made. Between screenings film historian Michael Van Den Bos will discuss the importance and influence his work had on the genre. The astronomy education team will also be talking about the cosmic relevance of the films.
Tickets available for 7:00pm and 9:00pm shows. Show length will be approximately one hour.
