Rediscover Vancouver's Oldest Neighbourhoods
It's time to reacquaint yourself with the old side of Vancouver. Gastown was Vancouver’s first neighbourhood, growing from a single tavern back in 1867. Today, the district retains its historic charm, independent spirit, Victorian architecture, and some of the best culinary fare in Vancouver. Just a few blocks away you'll find Chinatown, which was established in the 1890s and is North America's third-largest Chinatown after New York and San Francisco. This neighbourhood is also rich in history and architecture, with plenty of classic Asian speciality stores, dim sum restaurants, apothecaries, and a quiet oasis offering calm respite from the bustle.
