Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada is hitting the road this summer to celebrate marriage equality at Pride events across America!
Vancouver - where same-sex marriage has been legal for more than 10 years - will share the love on an eight-city "I do" road trip that includes New York Pride, LA Pride, Portland Pride, San Diego Pride, Northalsted Market Days (Chicago), Dallas Pride, Sin City Shootout (Las Vegas) and Palm Springs Pride.
At Tourism Vancouver's booth at New York Pride, we invite you to meet Vancouver celebrity drag performer Carlotta Gurl. You can also outfit yourself with wedding-themed props and snap-and-share a photo in front of our seven-foot "Vancouver: 10+ Years of Marriage Equality" picture frame wall. (Warning: your Facebook friends will think you've up-and-eloped to Vancouver).
The Vancouver team is also giving away free Vancouver swag, plus a whole lot of intel on why you should choose Vancouver for your next vacation.
Don't forget to enter our "Celebrating 10 Years of ‘I Do' in Vancouver" sweepstakes at the booth, or online. One lucky couple will win a romantic anniversary-themed trip to Vancouver, complete with round-trip flights, airport transfers, a four-night stay at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre, sightseeing, dining, and tickets to a drag show.
Surrounded by mountains and forest and boasting cool ocean breezes while New York is sweating the summer, Vancouver was referred to as "paradise" by Out magazine and "astonishingly friendly" by OutThere magazine. Vancouver is home to the largest LGBTQ population in Western Canada. The community is centred around two distinctly different neighbourhoods, the world-renowned Davie Village in the beachy West End and artsy Commercial Drive (the city's most lesbian-identified neighbourhood). Visit during Vancouver Pride (July 25-August 2), Vancouver Queer Film Festival (August 13-23), or any time of year - we guarantee you'll fall in love with Vancouver for yourself.
