A 20-minute drive away, Grouse Mountain is the closest mountain to downtown Vancouver. And getting up there is part of the fun—a day of skiing starts with the Skyride (North America's largest aerial tramway) whisking you one mile up from the base, taking you to 1,128 metres (3,700 feet) above sea level to the Alpine Station. From there, skiers and boarders can choose from 26 ski runs for varying levels of experience, and three terrain parks for those who prefer to freestyle.
Skiers and snowboarders share these slopes during the day and evening, with 14 runs open for thrilling and picturesque night skiing. If you’re a beginner, or just looking to take your skills to the next level, Grouse offers schools and private lessons. When you’re not out in the powder, the Peak Chalet is the place to relax, with restaurants, coffee shops and gift stores to browse, as well as a whole lot of other winter time activities.
