Transportation During 2010

Whether you’re travelling by foot, bus, SkyTrain or SeaBus – Vancouver is a breeze to get around. Navigating to, from and around the city is made simple with TransLink – Vancouver’s easy-to-use public transit system.
While taxis are readily available at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR), visitors also have the option of being whisked into downtown in just 25 minutes on Vancouver’s newest SkyTrain light rail system – the Canada Line.
During the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, everyone is encouraged to use public transit as much as possible – especially since there will be road restrictions and no parking at venues and along key routes during the Games. Public transit, walking and cycling will be the best ways to get around the city, especially to Olympic events in Vancouver and Richmond.
As an added bonus, your Olympic and Paralympic event ticket gives you unlimited access to TransLink’s transit services for the day of the event, right through to the end of services the following morning.
The Vancouver Olympic Organizing Committee (VANOC) will also operate an Olympic Bus Network (OBN) to help transport athletes, spectators and media from the Vancouver area to Cypress Mountain and Whistler venues. OBN tickets will be available online (and sold separately from event tickets).
Whether you are attending the Opening or Closing Ceremonies, cheering on the athletes at an Olympic event or taking part in local festivities, Vancouver’s public transit system can help you get there easily. Use TransLink’s trip planning tool to help you navigate the city, and to pick the route and travel option that works best for you.
