How will tourists get to Games venues and around the city during the 2010 Winter Games?
As with other Olympic host cities, a multi-jurisdictional traffic management plan has been developed to ensure that transportation logistics are smooth. Visit www.travelsmart2010.ca for full details on how to get to Olympic venues and around the city on transit, or via the Olympic bus network.
Will I be able to drive my car around Vancouver, and up to Whistler, during the Olympic period?
Visitors are being encouraged to opt for public transport over private vehicles as parking restrictions and road closures will be in effect during the Olympic Winter Games. Visit www.travelsmart2010.ca for detailed driving information including travel to Whistler on the Sea to Sky Highway. Driving your car around Vancouver and up to Whistler during the Paralympic Winter Games is not expected to be a problem although parking restrictions at venues may still be in effect.
Will all of Vancouver's tourist attractions be open during the Olympic period?
Most tourist attractions will be open during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. However it is recommended that you verify operating hours of each individual attraction before going.
Will I be able to make restaurant reservations during the 2010 Games?
Yes - most restaurants will be accepting reservations as usual. Information and reservation information for many of Vancouver's top restaurants can be found at: www.tourismvancouver.com/visitors/dining.
Where can visitors get information about what's going on in Vancouver?
Tourism Vancouver's Visitor Information Centre and Satellite Visitor Information kiosks (which will be located throughout the city during the Olympic period) provide information on attractions, events, accommodation and restaurants, in addition to selling theatre and attractions tickets. Another great source for event listings, restaurant and attractions information is Tourism Vancouver's website: www.tourismvancouver.com.
