Come Celebrate the Spirit

During the 2010 Winter Games, the City of Vancouver, with support from the Government of Canada, is hosting LiveCity Vancouver - two exciting and distinct outdoor celebration sites (LiveCity Yaletown and LiveCity Downtown) in the heart of the city.

LiveCity Downtown – an urban gathering place in the heart of the city at Georgia and Cambie Streets. LiveCity Downtown is all about the spirit of sport and competition. A giant screen will show live coverage of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games events as they unfold. This is the place to meet with friends and mingle with visitors from around the world in a lively, urban setting. LiveCity Vancouver is completely accessible to people with disabilities. All facilities are equipped to ensure everyone fully enjoys the LiveCity Vancouver experience.

LiveCity Yaletown – on the water’s edge at David Lam Park. LiveCity Yaletown will feature live local, national, and international entertainment on the main stage in the afternoon and into the night, culminating each evening with a dynamic nightly closing show. Giant screens will show highlights of Olympic Winter Games sport coverage and visitors can enjoy the interactive Olympic sponsor pavilions, Vancouver House, and much more... all for free!

2010 Vancouver Fun Zones

Along with the festive LiveCity Sites in downtown and Yaletown, the Olympic host cities of Vancouver, Whistler and Richmond will host a number of Fun Zones during the 2010 Winter Games. These events are free, fun and family-friendly!

Watch live event action on giant screens, and participate in the festivities with fellow spectators from around the block and around the world.

Vancouver Fun Zones

GE Ice Plaza at Robson Square

– This outdoor rink in the heart of Vancouver’s fashionable Robson Street will be a gathering point with athlete demonstrations, family events and special BC programming. Located on Robson Street, between Howe and Hornby streets.

Vancouver Public Library

– The library’s atrium will be the City of Vancouver’s Host pavilion, showcasing the city as a tourism, business and cultural destination. Located on West Georgia Street, between Hamilton and Homer streets.

2010 Aboriginal Pavilion

– The Four Host First Nations of the Lil’wat, Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh will welcome guests from around the world to share in their arts, crafts, food and culture at their pavilion, which features a 279 square meter (3,000 square feet) sphere surrounded by a Coast Salish Longhouse and Trading Post. Located at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza on Hamilton Street (at Dunsmuir Street).

Granville Island

– Granville Island will be the centre of Francophone events during the 2010 Winter Games. For easy access to the vibrant and scenic Granville Island, Bombardier will provide a streetcar shuttle from the Canada Line Olympic Village Station.

Richmond Fun Zones

O Zone

– As one of the main celebration sites for the 2010 Winter Games, the O Zone will feature a variety of spectacular multicultural programming, entertainment, food, arts and activities, and a public outdoor skating area. The O Zone will also be home to the Holland House, traditionally welcoming the Dutch and other visitors at every Olympic Games. Located in Richmond’s city centre, the O Zone is a short walk from the Canada Line Richmond-Brighouse Station.

Whistler Fun Zones

Whistler Live!

– Whistler Live! is a series of free, family-friendly events that include daily and nightly performances, interactive events, exhibitions and more. Located along the Village Stroll.

Whistler Medals Plaza

– As an official Whistler Celebration Site, the plaza will be the venue for the nightly medals ceremonies and concerts during both the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, as well as for the Paralympic Closing Ceremony. The plaza has been modeled after similar sites at the Sydney, Salt Lake City and Torino Olympic Games.
