» Victoria: Getting There

Victoria is on Vancouver Island, 107 km (76 miles) southwest of Vancouver. The trip, by car or bus and ferry, takes approximately 4 hours each way. Or is approximately a half hour flight. See the following options for traveling to Victoria:

A number of Vancouver companies offer escorted day trips to Victoria. Itineraries vary, but most include sightseeing in Victoria, and some tours include a visit to Butchart Gardens or a whale-watching trip.

Car
4 hours one-way Proceed south on Howe Street across the Granville Bridge (Hwy 99) until you reach the corner of Granville and West 49th Avenue. Turn left onto West 49th Avenue to the corner of West 49th and Oak Street. Turn right on to Oak Street, cross the Oak Street Bridge and travel south through a tunnel. About 4 minutes after you exit the tunnel you will see a sign, indicating Highway 17-Victoria Ferries Next Right. Follow Highway 17 to the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal and line up for boarding on to the ferry. Upon arriving at Vancouver Island, drive 30 minutes south from Swartz Bay to downtown Victoria.

TransLink
4.5 hours one-way Catch bus #98 B-line from Waterfront Station or southbound on Burrard Street to Aiport Station (Approx. 45 minutes). At Airport Station transfer to bus #620 'Tsawwassen Ferry', which takes you directly to the ferry, dock (approx. 1.5 hour travel time from Vancouver). Check schedules for times or call Translink at 604.953.3333. From the Swartz Bay terminal on Vancouver Island, take bus # 70 'Pat Bay Hwy' to Victoria. This trip from Vancouver to Victoria will take you approx. 4.5 hours travel time (One Way). Please check current ferry sailings at BC Ferries 1.888.223.3779

Charter Bus
3.5 hours one-way From the Pacific Central Station Depot at Main Street at Terminal Avenue, take the Pacific Coach Lines charter bus (Royal Victorian Excursion). The bus departs approximately every 1.5 hours prior to each ferry departure.
