Burnaby is a city that has come of age. It's where you'll find North America's only mountain top university, the largest retail and entertainment complex in British Columbia and outstanding sports and recreation facilities. The city's diverse sights and attractions are yours to discover.
The Metrotown area, a 15 minute SkyTrain ride from downtown Vancouver, is where you'll find over 500 stores and an equally impressive entertainment complex. Enough to keep even the most dedicated shopper (and the rest of the family) happy. Staying near the action has never been easier with the November 1999 opening of the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown a perfect complement to the on-site Holiday Inn Metrotown. All this is only a few minutes walk to Central Park, an immense urban forest, with its wide pathways, pitch & putt golf, tennis courts and an outdoor pool.
The hardest part of finding a place to eat? Choice. Burnaby has a delectable selection of restaurants including the beautiful Hart House Restaurant on Deer Lake.
The park is also Burnaby's cultural centre - The Gallery at Ceperley House in a restored mansion, the Shadbolt Centre for the Performing Arts with its theatres and music rooms and the Burnaby Village Museum and Carousel are all tucked into the landscape around the lake. Don't miss the chance to ride some real history by taking a spin on the fully restored 1912 CW Parker Carousel.
Burnaby's natural heritage is on display at the nearby Burnaby Lake Regional Nature Park or a little further north along the trails that wind through the forest of Burnaby Mountain. The park has magnificently maintained walking trails, well suited for casual hikers and perfect for jogging fanatics. Within Burnaby Mountain Park you'll find the dozen or so carved poles of the Kamui Mintara - "Playground of the Gods." These stunning sculptures celebrate the goodwill between Burnaby and its sister city, Kushiro, Japan. Enjoy a fine meal and savour the equally stunning city and inlet views. "Burnaby has it all"
