| FRESH IDEAS |

BC Event Management - a member of Tourism Vancouver - recently walked away with an award and a nomination at the BizBash Event Awards held February in Toronto. BCEM was a finalist for Best Fresh Idea and won the award for Best Use of Technology. Both these honours were for the PCMA Welcoming Reception held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre last year.
The award winning video presentation, on a 6,000 square foot screen, took guests on a cross country tour. Part of the technical achievement involved a huge screen quickly dropping to the ground to reveal a large indoor pyrotechnics display followed by a shower of pyro-confetti from above. | GREEN SPEAK |

Tim Sanders, a former a senior level executive at Yahoo, and now on the speaker circuit, recently spoke at the Opening General Session at the Meeting Professionals International Professional Education Conference (MPI PEC) in Houston, attended by Tourism Vancouver's Wendy Surkan and Shannon Donegani.
The topic of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was a running theme throughout the general session, and it was the topic of keynote speaker Sanders' speech. Sanders, author of the upcoming book, How to Save the World at Work, (available September 2008) spoke about the "Responsibility Revolution" and the need for corporations to embrace CSR in order to attract young talent and succeed. He also shared examples of how meetings, and those responsible for planning them, have changed companies' organizational cultures and, in some cases, the world.
