FIFA U-20 WORLD CUP CANADA 2007 - SETS HIGHEST ATTENDANCE RECORD |

With record attendance spread over five cities: Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Victoria and Burnaby, BC, the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007 easily surpassed the projected $166 million in economic impact to Canada.
FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) announced that the tournament officially set the record for the highest cumulative attendance in FIFA U-20 World Cup history, at more than 1.2 million spectators at 52 matches. This surpassed the previous record set in Mexico in 1983.
The Whitecaps, Vancouver's own professional USL first division soccer team, will host David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy in a friendly exhibition match on Wednesday, October 3. Over 38,000 tickets have been sold for this popular event. For ticket info visit: www.whitecapsfc.com

| NEW ABORIGINAL ART SHOWCASE GALLERY IN DOWNTOWN VANCOUVER |

The Bill Reid Foundation will open the brand new Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art in downtown Vancouver housing not only a permanent collection of work by Reid, but also a collection being created by a new generation of Northwest Coast aboriginal artists. Opening spring 2008, the gallery will be located at 639 Hornby Street sharing its home with the Chief Dan George Centre for Advanced Studies and the SFU Bill Reid Centre of Northwest Coast Art Studies. It aims to function as a portal to other Aboriginal cultural destinations in the province.
Bill Reid (1920-1998) was pivotal in introducing the great art traditions of the indigenous people of the Northwest Coast of North America to the world, and left a legacy of work spanning wood carving, jewellery, print and sculpture. Images of his works of art including The Spirit of Haida Gwaii sculpture (one of the two versions of which are housed at Vancouver International Airport) are featured on the Canadian $20 bill.

| VANCOUVER ART GALLERY ANNOUNCES KRAZY PLANS FOR 2008 AND BEYOND |

While the current Monet to Dali exhibition continues to attract huge crowds to the Vancouver Art Gallery this summer, the gallery is already looking ahead. Summer 2008 will bring a very different type of major exhibition to the gallery - KRAZY: The Delirious World of Anime + Comics + Video Games + Art, which will examine a rapidly expanding and increasingly popular field of visual culture.
Also on the books for 2008 is a new Emily Carr exhibition titled Emily Carr and Early Modernism. Visitors travel from all over the world to see Carr's work, best known for her representation of BC's First Nations culture and the rainforests of Vancouver Island.
Finally, the Vancouver Art Gallery has also announced that they will present a solo show of internationally acclaimed Mexican painter Frida Kahlo in 2009, known for her depictions of the indigenous culture of her country in a style that combined realism, symbolism and surrealism.
This unique venue can host dinners of up to 250 and receptions for 500 people.

The Betty Tweedy Golf Classic is the annual golf tournament organized by the national sport and active living community in Ottawa for their colleagues and their business partners. The primary objective of the event is to increase awareness of and raise funds for cancer research locally for the benefit of our community. The tournament is named in honour of Betty Tweedy, a former sports administrator and an avid golf player who died of lung cancer in 1987.
