» Unusual Sports

It's hard to think of a sport that's not practiced or watched in Vancouver. Aside from the well-known pursuits listed above, the city is also home to cricket, played on a traditional, English-style pitch in Stanley Park; lawn bowling, also played here by the Stanley Park Lawn Bowling Club; rugby, with teams across the Lower Mainland under the auspices of BC Rugby (www.bcrugby.com); and curling, practiced by the Vancouver Curling Club (www.vancouvercurlingclub.com) on a five-sheet ice rink in the city. A new curling facility is being built for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, after which it will become the Vancouver Curling Club's new state-of-the-art home.
