June 2015

Vancouver will host the final match of the FIFA Women's World Cup on Sunday, July 5, 2015, in addition to eight other matches on June 8, 12, 16, 21, 23 and 27 (quarterfinals). The competition is the largest women's sporting event in the world and Vancouver joins Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal and Moncton in hosting what will be Canada's first coast-to-coast sporting event. Vancouver's matches will take place in BC Place Stadium (home of opening and closing ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games), which features a retractable roof (the largest of its kind on the globe), and the second-largest video-board in North America. Twenty-four national teams will vie for the winner's trophy, including Team Canada (bronze medalists at the London 2012 Olympic Games). Millions of viewers worldwide are expected to tune in to the final match, once again shining the spotlight on Vancouver as a world-leading sporting destination. The FIFA Women's World Cup runs from June 6 to July 5, 2015.

Fans can make the most of their World Cup trip by booking soccer-themed hotel packages like OPUS Hotel's FIFA package, which includes a kickoff reception at the newly renovated OPUS Bar; a well-stocked "survival kit" with noisemakers, official tournament scarf, snacks and an energy drink, and painkillers; two internationally themed cocktails per night and an in-room iPad pre-loaded with tournament apps. Tickets can be purchased for single or doubleheader matches. Uber-sports fans can scoop up a Stadium Passport, which includes tickets for every match taking place at BC Place Stadium (if you can't attend all the matches, a Stadium Half Pass is also available). All tickets can be purchased online, by phone at 1-855-985-5000, in-person at Ticketmaster outlets, or at Tourism Vancouver's Tickets Tonight booth. http://www.vancouver.fwwc2015.ca/
