Visitors interested in BC's aboriginal culture can check into the newly opened Skwachàys Lodge (pronounced ‘skwatch eyes'). Opened in fall 2014, the 18-room boutique hotel is located at the crossroads of Gastown and Chinatown in a Victorian-era building that was completely renovated. Six of Vancouver's top hotel designers were paired with six First Nations artists to create 18 unique art installations - one for each room. Owned by the Vancouver Native Housing Society, 100 percent of hotel profits go towards providing safe and affordable housing for Vancouver's urban aboriginal population. In addition to top-of-the-line beds and linens, the hotel features an artists' workshop, traditional smudge room and sweat lodge, and is crowned by a rooftop totem pole that reaches more than 40 feet above Vancouver's skyline. Skwachàys plans to introduce an array of tours and cultural experiences later this year. *Great room décor images available! http://skwachays.com/
