The 38th Vancouver Pride Parade will take place on July 31 with a theme of “Better Together.” This year Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will walk in the parade as he did in the Toronto Pride Parade.

The new Jim Deva Plaza has just completed its construction. The plaza is named in honour of the late Vancouver LGBT activist Jim Deva who successfully fought against Canadian Customs censors who tried to prevent LGBT literature from being brought across the border. This brand new plaza will be the place of several celebrations throughout the week including the City of Vancouver's official Pride Week proclamation by Mayor Gregor Robertson, and will be the West End's newest community hub. With its celebrated and iconic rainbow crosswalks, this area has now been expanded to be a car-free outdoor lounge space for the community, surrounded buy independent shops and restaurants.
