Whistler Sport Legacies is a not-for-profit organization responsible for three world-class 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games facilities - The Whistler Sliding Centre, Whistler Olympic Park and the Whistler Athletes’ Centre.
Whistler Sliding Centre
The Whistler Sliding Centre is located in the beautiful Fitzsimmons valley on the southeast slope of Blackcomb Mountain. The Whistler Sliding Centre was the site of the bobsleigh, luge and skeleton competitions for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. This high performance, world-class sliding sports venue includes a 1,450 metre long competition track, as well as venue support buildings. As one of only two sliding tracks in Canada, The Whistler Sliding Centre track will help to elevate the Canadian high-performance sport development program as well as offer the public a unique opportunity to try the sliding sports of skeleton and bobsleigh.
Whistler Olympic Park
Whistler Olympic Park, in the Callaghan Valley, is emerging as North America’s premier Nordic recreation destination. Whistler Olympic Park is located 13 km south of Whistler, then 9 km off Highway 99. Whistler Olympic Park was the site for all Nordic events during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Visitors and athletes alike can now enjoy the use of the facility on a year-round basis. Featuring 90 km of expertly groomed cross-country ski trails at a variety of skill levels (both skate and classic), winter at Whistler Olympic Park offers lit trails for night skiing, snowshoe trails, a biathlon range and stadium. A host of summer activities are available, including tours of the towering ski jumps and a ride on the chair lift. Take in the spectacular views from the full service Day Lodge, while basking in the sun on incredible deck or sipping a warm beverage inside by the cozy fireplace. Our friendly team will provide help with pass sales, lessons, rentals, tours, retail, snacks, and beverages.
Whistler Athletes’ Centre
The Whistler Athletes’ Centre is comprised of the Athletes’ Lodge, Athletes’ Townhomes and the High Performance Training Centre. These facilities are available for carded athletes and coaches, members of educational organizations, or arts and culture groups. The Whistler Athletes’ Centre is located in Cheakamus Crossing, Whistler’s newest neighbourhood across the Highway from Function Junction.
The Lodge features 97 rooms containing 194 beds. Each floor of the Lodge has a common room perfect for relaxing, watching TV, or surfing the wireless connection, and are also available for rental to hold team meetings.
