The Vancouver Aquarium is home to over 70,000 fascinating creatures including majestic beluga whales, Pacific white-sided dolphins, curious sea otters, harbour seals and Steller sea lions!

You’ll also find moon jellies, the Scarlet ibis, anacondas, a sea turtle, giant Pacific octopus, sharks, moray eels, three-toed sloths and thousands of brilliantly-coloured fish. Plus, you’ll enjoy our daily dolphin and beluga sessions, shark dives and sea otter feeds.

Visitors to the Vancouver Aquarium can participate in our personalized, hands-on Animal Encounters including training and feeding the beluga whales, sea otters, dolphins and Steller sea lions.

The Vancouver Aquarium, in world-famous Stanley Park, first opened in 1956. Beginning with a one-story building, several displays and seven staff members, the Aquarium has grown into a thriving 90,000 square-foot facility with almost 400 employees, 900 volunteers and nearly 1 million visitors each year.

The Aquarium celebrated its 50th anniversary with the opening of Aquaquest – the Marilyn Blusson Learning Centre. Aquaquest is a ‘green’ building (built to LEED Gold standards) and is home to interactive exhibits, Clownfish Cove (our children’s area), a theatre, an environmental newsroom, classrooms and a wet lab.

The Vancouver Aquarium is a self-supporting non-profit dedicated to effecting the conservation of aquatic life through display and interpretation, education, research and direct action. Through its visionary programs and the hard work of its staff and volunteers, the Vancouver Aquarium is Canada’s largest and one of the five largest in North America.

Long-established as a global leader in marine research, education and conservation, the Aquarium offers visitors an unforgettable experience through face-to-face engagement with a wide array of amazing animals.

The Vancouver Aquarium is open 365 days a year from 9:30 am - 5:30 pm (with extended summer hours). Telephone 604-659-FISH or dive in to vanaqua.org to learn more!
