Rocky Mountaineer travels through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world including the Canadian Rocky Mountains, a recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site and home of the destination resort towns of Jasper and Banff, Alberta. Travelling by daylight only, the train follows four unique rail routes through British Columbia and Alberta, offering a firsthand view of the brilliant landscapes. From craggy mountain cliffs and snow-capped peaks, to dry desert-like plains and pristine glacial-fed lakes, the scenery is constantly changing.
Guests travel in RedLeaf, SilverLeaf or GoldLeaf Service, with live onboard commentary and bi-regional cuisine as the awe-inspiring scenery passes by at a leisurely pace. While onboard the Rocky Mountaineer guest overnight mid-way in either Kamloops or Quesnel. Trips on the Rocky Mountaineer are available between mid-April and early-October.
Known for its luxurious bi-level glass-domed coaches, GoldLeaf Service allows for optimal viewing of soaring eagles, spawning salmon and if you are lucky, a black bear or two. The Whistler Sea to Sky Climb route showcases the breathtaking scenery between North Vancouver and Whistler. During the three and a half hour journey guests will travel through scenic Howe Sound and the Cheakamus Canyon, across a trestle bridge and past an extinct volcano before finally arriving in the world-renowned Whistler Village. While onboard guests receive a meal or snack, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, access to the outdoor Heritage Observation car, rail station transfers in Vancouver and Whistler, and personalized service and interpretive commentary from their onboard attendant. Guests can return the same day, or stay overnight in Whistler. The Whistler Sea to Sky Climb operates mid-May to the end of September.
