Greater Vancouver Professional Theatre Alliance

First formed in 1976 and incorporated in 1987, the Greater Vancouver Professional Theatre Alliance includes more than 100 organizational members from 11 Lower Mainland municipalities (theatre companies, theatre schools, venues and others), as well as many individual artist members. Our mandate is, through our collective efforts, to promote live theatre and foster a thriving environment for the continued growth and development of theatre throughout the Greater Vancouver area.

GVPTA programs and services are focused in two areas: audience development and member services. Our audience development programs include: production of the Vancouver Theatre Guide (providing up-to-date information all member company theatre productions occurring in the Lower Mainland at www.vantheatre.ca); dissemination of weekly “Casting the Net” e-mail bulletins (including updated information on openings and closings of local theatre productions); a frequent ticket buyer program (see five GVPTA member company productions and get a free ticket voucher), and an annual World Theatre Day public-awareness raising campaign and related events in March of each year.

GVPTA Member services provided include: professional development (including an annual conference and workshop series); networking events; advocacy and communications; marketing of the Vancouver Theatre Guide, and individual membership/Alliance discount cards for theatre professionals.
