Visitor Activities

Transport yourself to the 1920s – Stroll down the streets of the village exploring at your own pace. The village is an open-air museum on a 10-acre site that represents at typical tram-stop community. Period costumed townsfolk welcome visitors and give demonstrations in the homes, businesses and shops. Popular stops include the blacksmith, the print shop, the garden at the farmhouse, and the General Store.

Enjoy the elegance of the recently restored Interurban #1223 tram. It is part of the area’s rich public transportation history. An exciting must for every visitor is a whirl on the historic 1912 CW Parker Carousel. Rides are accompanied by music from a 1925 Wurlitzer band organ.

Amenities include picnic tables, a gift shop, and an ice-cream parlour which offers a menu for light meals and snacks. The site is wheelchair accessible.

Special Events, Heritage Programs
The museum is open seasonally for the general public and year-round for pre-booked tours. Special events include a Village Scavenger Hunt, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Fall Fair & Heritage Christmas.

2013 Summer Display

On the Air: Live from the Burnaby Village Museum. Visitors will be able to experience the golden age of radio.  A radio station will be set up in one of the Village buildings, and transmit to vintage radios located throughout the site.  Archival sound recordings will be featured, as well as live performances and on the spot interviews with Museum visitors.  Hands-on displays and activities will provide opportunities to learn about early radio technology, including creating sound effects.

Open Garage - on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons our volunteers open the vintage car garage.
Footlight Theatre- Vaudeville Shows every Sunday starting June 16.
