The AIBC is a self-governing body that regulates the profession of architecture in British Columbia. It is dedicated to excellence in the profession of architecture for the benefit of society, the environment and its membership. A core component of the AIBC’s mandate, as well as contemporary architectural practice, is to serve the public interest and ensure public safety. The organization is governed by a volunteer board of directors. Each Spring the AIBC hosts a major professional conference where it also announces the winners of the prestigious annual AIBC Architecture Awards. The institute’s public outreach program includes “Ask an Architect” information sessions, regular exhibitions in the AIBC Gallery, and guided architectural walking tours in downtown Vancouver and Victoria.
