Get away from those grey skies and shake off those winter blues at the Vancouver Aquarium where things are brighter than ever!
In the dark depths of the ocean where the sun doesn't shine, many animals glow in the dark. Vancouver Aquarium newest feature, Luminescence: A celebration of aquatic light, will examine how these animals create light through bioluminescence and fluorescence.
Don't know what those words mean? Come to the Aquarium to find out and discover a bright new world from the dark depths of the oceans through our exhibits and shows. This includes:
- Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas 4-D, which runs from November 28 to January 6 at our Goldcorp Ocean Theatre
- Jelly Swarm, an interactive LED installation which lights up the entire ceiling of the entrance gallery
- appearances by the ever-popular Scuba Claus, with live dives into the Strait of Georgia exhibit
- interactive deep-dive installations in the Exploration Gallery and daily demonstrations of the mysterious phenomenon of bioluminescence.
The Vancouver Aquarium is open 365 days a year.
Hours of operation are 10AM-5PM daily, and 9:30AM-6PM seasonally/statutory holiday weekends.
