Vancouver FanClub presents Lucky Peterson Band featuring Tamara

Saturday, August 10, 2013

Lucky Peterson (www.luckytamband.com) has gained a reputation as one of the most preeminent performers of the modern era. A searing lead guitarist, seasoned organist and first-rate vocalist, Peterson is deemed the most dangerous triple threat in the world of blues.

Prime-rich in roots, but performing in the present, the electrifying performer maintains the attributes of a true legend. Growing up in Buffalo, New York, Peterson's father owned The Governor's Inn, one of the area's most renowned blues clubs, exposing the budding artist to music his entire life. Peterson's first record, the R&B hit 1-2-3-4 was produced by Willie Dixon when he was five years old. This garnered television appearances for the blues prodigy on such shows as The Tonight Show, Ed Sullivan Show and What's My Line.

Peterson attended the Buffalo Academy of Performing Arts, before performing in bands of high profile acts such as Etta James and Otis Rush. Considered one of the most versatile players in the modern blues scene, Peterson has since performed with a long list of greats, including B.B. King and Albert Collins. His 1993 Verve debut I'M READY announced the arrival of a new force in blues, followed by BEYOND COOL (1994). His collaboration with the legendary Mavis Staples on LIFETIME (1996) exemplifies the artist's gospel chops and influences. Subsequent releases include Verve's MOVE (1997) and Blue Thumb Records' LUCKY PETERSON (1999). His latest CD slated for release in Paris will feature the iconic Macy Gray.
