A Growing Affair, which replaces the popular and long-running annual "Perennial Plant Sale", is an updated event that includes plants for sale and also features fun, demonstrations for both new and experienced gardeners. The event is designed to inform and empower plant lovers
of all ages to do more with their gardens, patios and balconies, large or small, and to engage children with a deeper appreciation for all things growing.
Featuring a wide selection of plants propagated by the Friends of the Garden, the sale has been a popular gardening event in the Lower Mainland for 22 years. Heritage strawberries and tomatoes, blueberries, fruit trees, small shrubs, native plants, grasses, popular perennials, and limited quantities of rare and unusual plants. The event will also showcase plants from the Garden's " From our Garden to your Garden" program. The Shop in the Garden will also be well stocked with plants, garden accessories, tools and supplies. We also have a great assortment of giftware and the widest selection of gardening books available in the city.
Come learn with us - There will be displays and an opportunity to explore the Botanical Garden as well as children's activities, demonstrations including composting techniques and a talk about beneficial and pest insects by expert Ingrid Hoff called "Good Bugs, Bad Bugs."
For those curious to learn more before buying, gardening experts will be on hand to answer your questions. Still need some extra help after the sale? Ask questions online on the UBC Botanical Garden Forums, and receive answers from the same volunteers who propagate and care for the plants!
