Ensemble Theatre Company Summer Repertory

Ensemble Theatre Company brings you three more compelling plays that hold a mirror up to the dark heart and shining soul of the human condition. The Duchess of Malfi by John Webster, The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh and The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer.

Previews July 7, Opening July 11, 2014

A dark comedy set in a small island community off the coast of Ireland in 1934. Young "Cripple Billy" Claven is desperate to escape the poverty and boredom of Inishmaan and when a Hollywood film crew arrives on a neighbouring island to film the documentary "Man of Aran", he may have his chance.

By Martin McDonagh, the award-winning author of In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths and The Pillowman, and directed by Ensemble member Matthew Bissett, director of Ensemble's smash hit last summer: The Farnsworth Invention.

Previews July 8, Opening July 12, 2014

Against the wishes of her two brothers, the widowed young Duchess secretly marries her steward, Antonio. When the brothers' spy, Bosola, discovers her secret, they enact a terrible and macabre revenge.

Webster's Jacobean masterpiece of jealousy, madness and murder.

Previews July 14, Opening July 18, 2014

A searing drama about public and private indifference to the AIDS plague and one man's lonely fight to awaken the world to the crisis.

Fighting an apathetic government and a conflicted community, author and gay activist Ned Weeks struggles to spread awareness of an unknown and terrifying disease killing hundreds of gay men, in this largely autobiographical account of the rise of the HIV-AIDS crisis in New York in the early 1980's.

Selected as one of the 100 greatest plays of the 20th Century by the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain.
