A dark comedy set in a small island community off the coast of Ireland in 1934. Young "Cripple Billy" Claven is desperate to escape the poverty and boredom of Inishmaan and when a Hollywood film crew arrives on a neighbouring island to film the documentary "Man of Aran", he may have his chance.

Fighting an apathetic government and a conflicted community, author and gay activist Ned Weeks struggles to spread awareness of an unknown and terrifying disease killing hundreds of gay men, in this largely autobiographical account of the rise of the HIV-AIDS crisis in New York in the early 1980's.
