Roedde House's Second Sunday Series presents: Purcell & Britten: Canticles, Sonnets & Songs Sun.
Join in for an afternoon of classical music at the Roedde House.
Two of the world's finest composers of vocal music are without doubt the Englishmen Benjamin Britten (whose centenary was celebrated last year), and his great predecessor and inspiration, Henry Purcell, who flourished 300 years earlier.
On May 11th, two of BC's finest singers (Mark Donnelly and Mark De Silva) present a programme of songs, both sacred and secular, by these two masters - including a rarely-heard and intensely dramatic setting for tenor and countertenor of the biblical story of Abraham and Isaac, composed by Britten in 1951.
They will be accompanied by Stephen Smith on the piano. This concert is part of a monthly concert series, taking place on the second Sunday of each month at 3pm.
Come at 1pm, for Tea and Tour, or right before 3pm for the concert, at your convenience.
Seating is limited (max.35) and reservations are recommended.
