Vancouver Craft Beer Week
Like many west coast cities in North America, Vancouver’s craft brewing scene has exploded in recent years, and with that has come an accompanying number of beer fans who relish the chance to get together, compare notes, and learn more about their favourite suds. Enter Vancouver Craft Beer Week, the biggest event of its kind in Canada.
Established in 2010, the festival has grown to a week-long beer extravaganza of events that pair beers with delicious eats and great music, competitions and awards galas, as well as showcasing rare brews and interesting imports.
The week, held in late May, culminates in a festival down at the fairgrounds at the Pacific National Exhibition where beer enthusiasts can sample from the 400 beers from over 100 breweries, before taking a spot on the lawn under the shady trees and watch the most Canadian of pursuits: “timbersports,” a modern version of a lumberjack challenge, involving power tools and logs.
