TOURISM VANCOUVER ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Tourism Vancouver has announced its new Board of Directors for 2011/2012. The 15-member board represents a cross-section of Metro Vancouver’s tourism industry.

“I’m honoured to serve as chair of Tourism Vancouver’s new board,” said Howard Jang, executive director of the Arts Club Theatre Company. Jang’s appointment marks the first time a representative from Vancouver’s arts and cultural community has chaired Tourism Vancouver’s Board of Directors. “This year’s board members come from a range of organizations and backgrounds, but all are committed to sharing their knowledge,” said Jang. “I have no doubt that this diversity and rich experience will help to strengthen Vancouver’s tourism industry.”
 
Members of the new board will be formally introduced at Tourism Vancouver’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), taking place June 22. Also on the meeting agenda is a discussion of the organization’s “Rethink” initiative, a strategic framework for how destination marketing is planned and delivered for the next decade.
 
Tourism Vancouver’s board is responsible for policy issues, and for ensuring the organization’s business and market development plans, along with corresponding financial plans, are developed, endorsed and monitored.
