Conservation Pledge:

  • Encourage and promote efficient energy use behaviours (e.g. turning off unnecessary lights or equipment) to minimize wasteful energy practices
  • Remove barriers and increase access to sustainable transportation for both staff and customers. To start, we will look at the potential for additional bike racks, providing a bike valet for large events, and will explore other ideas and opportunities

 

Profile:
The owners and staff at The Refinery Restaurant on Granville Street refer to their environmental philosophy as “refined thinking” and it’s a mission statement that goes beyond well-meaning yet somewhat clichéd measures like changing to low-energy lightbulbs. Indeed, environmental impact was a consideration before The Refinery even poured its first drink, according to co-owner Peter Raptis. So, when Peter was asked to become an Ambassador for Conservation and share how his work supports Vancouver’s sustainable tourism destination standing, he jumped on board. > more
